1. He was part of the original Channel 9 commentary team along with Richie Benaud, Tony Cozier, and Fred Trueman during WSC in 1977/78. He was on Channel 9 for 40 years
2. Batting 54 innings in Australia and not been given out LBW once. Greigy used to mention this stat every now and then.
3. In 2002/03 Tony thought he would wind Bill up so he organised the channel 9 statistician to take out Bill's name for 'most runs at the MCG' stat (Bill was really 6th at the time). Greigy started ribbing him about not performing on his home ground but Bill was on to it and said 'you have taken my record out'. They had a bit of a laugh about it.
4. In 2009 when they showed an attractive woman in the crowd and Tony said 'Oh boy, doesn’t she look gorgeous. Bill, come on then, say something... He won’t say anything, it’s got to be a pigeon before he comments'. There was a pause and then Bill replied 'You dig a hole you fill it up mate'.
5. Commentating during some historic moments like the underarm call, the 1999 Australia vs South Africa semi-final and the Michael Bevan last ball 4 against the Windies in 1996.
6. He made two test double centuries, both against the West Indies. One was his 210 at Bridgetown in 1965 and a 205 at the MCG in 1968.
7. He had a very good average of 47.15 and is in the debate for best ever openers for Australia. He made 13 hundreds.
8. Getting rissoled 4-0 by South Africa. Then returning back home Australia were trailing 1-0 to England and he was sacked as a player and captain heading into the 7th test. Disappointingly, he found out by radio. England won the 7th test.
