Today's guest on Just Havin a Crack is a former test cricket umpire Mel Johnson
Mel was a representative schoolboy cricketer for Queensland andwent on to play at Easts Cricket Club in Brisbane before injury put pay to his playing days.
After too much time at the pub and gambling on the horses, Mel's wife said it was time to get back into cricket. Why don't you try umpiring!
Well, Mel went on to become one of Australia's finest test umpires. An era when the game was played hard with massive personalities like the Chappell brothers, Dennis Lillee, Javed Miandad and the might of the West Indies.
This is a candid chat with Mel about what happened on the field and off. Mel is his own man this is his story.
