Eastern Suburbs Cricket Club

After 2 rounds of one day cricket, it was a return to two-day cricket in Round 7 of the NSW Premier Cricket Competition and Eastern Suburbs were playing host to St George.

Eastern Suburbs Skipper Jack Preddy won the toss and invited St George bat. 

George Furrer made the first break through when he had Hopkins caught by Adam Ezekiel for 10 and St George was 1 for 37. After losing Gray for 19 with the score on 74 to Marcus Atallah, Henry Thornton then removed opener Blake Nikitaras for 42 without any additional runs being scored. St George 3 for 74.

St George continued to lose wickets at regular intervals with Captain Nick Stapleton top-scoring with 47.

Marcus Atallah took the bowling honours for Eastern Suburbs with 4 for 41 off 16 overs while Henry Thornton picked up 3 for 42 off 19 overs and George Furrer 3 for 29 in what was a very solid bowling performance.

In reply, Eastern Suburbs was 2 for 40 at stumps with Peter Lazarus not out on 11 and Angus Robson on 1. Earlier Tim Armstrong lost his wicket on 23 and night watchman came and went for 1.

In 2nd Grade, St George sent Eastern Suburbs into bat and despite losing Sam Smyth 2nd ball of the innings the boys from the East took full advantage with Tom Gallop in his 100th game for the club leading the way with an impressive 103 

Gallop was well supported by Nic Taylor 84 and Tas Yazdani in his 150th game for the club scoring 63 from number 9. Eastern Suburbs all out for 345 after 93.1 overs.

St George is 0 for 7 after one over.

In 3rd Grade, Eastern Suburbs was bowled out for 175 in 75.5 overs with an innings saving 59 from Joe Pocklington batting 8. Hamish Dunlop 30 and Billy Barge 25 contributions provide the Dolphin bowlers with a target to bowl at.

St George was 0 for 3 at stumps.

In 4th Grade, disaster struck for Eastern Suburbs as they were sent into bat and bowled out for 25 in 23.5 overs. In reply, St George is 7 for 108. If the 4ths can wrap up the tail, who knows!!

In 5th grade eastern suburbs decided to bat and at stumps was 9 for 191. Batting number 7 Mitchell Sciberras scored a fine 61 and Ritish Sethi 31.

Several games are in the balance as Eastern Suburbs look to maintain their position on the Club Championship table
