The Lindfield Roseville Barbarians under 14’s played North Sydney on Sunday and it was North Sydney batting first after they won the toss.
Whilst it was only cloudy conditions to start with there was a short delay when the sprinklers burst out of the ground to dampen the outfield.
North Sydney got off to a quick run a ball start to their innings with the Lindfield Roseviile bowlers finding it difficult to hold the ball.
In the 7th over Cooper Robertson got the breakthrough with 36 runs on the board. Pat Heuzenroeder chimed in to pick up his first of two wickets in the next over (2 for 22).
Captain Matthew Fahy then bought himself on with immediate success turning a leg spinner past the outside edge of the batsman and crushing into off stump to finish with 2 for 24, before a partnership between Aidan McNamara 52, and Rowan Rainer 45, got North Sydney back on track before finishing all out in the 39th over 198.
The Barbarians then got off to a cautious start with runs hard to come by with some tight bowling and excellent fielding,
Jeremy Santow then retired in the 9th over, Pat Heuzenroeder then played some lovely shots before being caught and bowled for 21, and some late batting by Jacob Belnick 18, Harrison Cleary 22 and Harry Lloyd 13not out saw the Barbarians all out in the 40th over for 135.
The difference between the two sides was the excellent fielding from North Sydney catching everything, and their tight disciplined bowling. Max Yeoland finishing with 3/20; Ryan Walsh 2 for 4 and Aidan McNamara 2 for 13
