Introducing Carl Hooper
The Southern District CC has appointed Carl Hooper as the Senior Men’s High-Performance Coach for 2020/2021. Carl captained the West Indies in Test Matches and ODI’s.
Carl's is only one of two players to have played test cricket that scored over 5,000 test runs and taken 100 test wickets and 100 test catches. His highest test score was 233 runs against India. In addition, Carl played 227 ODI’s and scored 6,000 ODI runs and is again only 1 of 2 players to have scored a 100 against every county (18 in total) in England, whilst playing for Kent and Lancashire. Carl has previously played SACA Premier Cricket in Adelaide and Victorian Premier Cricket in Melbourne. He has coached at Woodville CC in the SACA Premier Cricket and been the batting coach at the West Indian High-Performance Centre. In addition, he has coached the Antigua Hawksbills and Guyana Amazon Warriors in the CPL T20 competition and coached at the Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy and SACA. Carl has recently been involved in radio cricket commentary in India and was the High-Performance Coach at Southern District Cricket Club in 2019/2020.

Introducing Andrew Staunton
Andrew was born in New South Wales and played Second XI cricket with this state. Following a relocation to South Australia, Andrew represented South Australia in 2003 and played cricket at the Port Adelaide CC, winning the SACA KC Butler Medal for the most outstanding 2nd grade player in 2014/2015. In 2015/2016, Andrew played 1st grade cricket for Southern District CC and in 18 x 1st grade games, he took 30 wickets at 24 and scored 374 runs at 25, with his efforts instrumental in the club achieving its first 1st grade premiership. Andrew is an ICC Level 3 accredited coach and has previously held coaching roles with Southern Force in the SACA Redbacks League, Westminster First XI and Southern District CC Senior Men’s Coach and Development Coach. Andrew is the Owner / Director of the Play Straight Cricket Academy, an important sponsor of our club. Andrew will provide valuable support to Carl Hooper – High Performance Senior Men’s coach for 2020/2021. In addition, Andrew has agreed to play this season, subject to existing work commitments.

Introducing Mal Condon
Mal commenced playing cricket in New South Wales and was selected in the New South Wales Under 19 team in 1984/85 and later played in England with the Under 19 Surrey County CC in 1986. Mal progressed to playing grade cricket for Sutherland District CC in New South Wales and following his transfer to South Australia, represented Adelaide University. In 1995/96, Mal coached the New South Wales Under 15 side and the Under 17 team the following year. Mal was previously the Southern District CC Senior Men’s Coach and Southern District CC Director of Junior Coaching. Mal is a Level 3 accredited cricket coach.
Mal will provide valuable support to Carl Hooper – High Performance Senior Men’s coach for 2020/2021.
