Charlotte Briggs is the premiership winning captain of the Sunshine Coast Scorchers. At such a young age it is a wonderful achievement to win back to back Jodie Fields Shields and we look forward to many more years of growth and success

Firstly, what year you were born?

2002

Can you remember you first game of cricket? How old and do you remember how you went?

10 years old – don’t remember playing or how I went

Tell us briefly about your cricketing journey? Where you’ve played, clubs you’ve played for?

I started playing at Palmwoods Cricket Club, played in junior rep teams for Sunshine Coast, started playing for Scorchers when I was 12 and have played for them the past 6 seasons

Which singer/band would you like to see perform live?

Tame Impala & Red Hot Chilli Peppers

What’s the one thing about you most people don’t know about?

I can juggle

What’s your highest score in Queensland Premier Cricket?

58 not out

What has been your best bowling figures in Queensland Premier Cricket?

4 for 3 runs

You’ve won back to back Jodie Fields Shields with you as the captain, how proud does that make you feel and what does it mean for women’s cricket on the Sunshine Coast?

To see from where we began and the work that has gone in to get to where we are now, the premierships are really rewarding, and I feel very proud to be a part of a great team and club.

Female cricket on the coast is an exciting space, now with a pathway from juniors right through to women’s

Can you tell us which players in the team we should be looking out for in terms of higher representative honours?

We have a lot of up-and-coming talent but definitely look out for Lucy Hamilton

Who has been the fastest bowler you have played against so far?

In women’s cricket Courtney Sippel

Who has been your funniest teammate?

Nicola Bradford also funniest to look at

Who was your childhood hero?

Glenn McGrath

Who are the two local players you admire most in terms of skills and competitive spirit?

Lucy Hamilton & Emma McCord

What do you enjoy most about playing cricket?

The different challenges of each game & playing with my friends

What has been your most memorable moment in cricket?

Winning back to back premierships for Scorchers

2018/19 Jodie Field Grand final

What are your hobbies?

Going to the beach, hanging out with friends and travelling

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

If you're happy doing what you're doing nobody can tell you you're not successful

What are your cricketing ambitions?

To keep challenging myself & enjoying playing
