Megan White had a long and distinguished cricket career playing for Queensland and she played a one day international for Australia.
Megan’s cricket journey has taken her from Goondiwindi, across Australia, to England and Sri Lanka and all at Valley Cricket Club extend their gratitude for the two season she played with the club at the end of her career in Queensland Premier Cricket.

Firstly, what year you were born?
1980
Can you remember you first game of cricket?
I must have been very young, 5 or 6 maybe playing Kanga Cricket, I was the only girl and I think I went well.
Tell us briefly about your cricketing journey?
Played all my junior cricket in Goondiwindi, then went to boarding school in grade 6 and 7 and played for Toowoomba Prep but then got band from playing in the boys' comp.
My first women’s team was playing for Toowoomba in A grade at the age 12 or 13. I then went on and played for Redbank Plains, spent most of my career with Wynnum-Manly. At the time I was playing for QLD and the Fire squad got split up amongst all the clubs and I went and played for Norths.
I then went and played a season for Victoria and played for Hawthorn Cricket Club
When I came back to QLD I played for Wynnum again and played a season over in England with Cheshire County Team. After that I decided to take a break from representative cricket and moved to Darwin and played for Waratah CC
I moved back to Brisbane played a season for Sandgate and 2 seasons for Valley.
I'm now back in Darwin and playing for Nightcliff CC and the Northern Tide in our Strike League.
During my career I played QLD under 18s/19s, Queensland Fire for 16 years, Shooting Stars Squad for 3 or 4 years, Southern Stars squad for 2 or 3 years and the Brisbane Heat in their first year.

What other sports do you play?
I did a lot of athletics as a kid and had to choose between athletics and cricket. I was nationally ranked in Javelin through high school but cricket won in the end. I have played anything and everything but cricket and athletics were my main sports growing up.
Who is your favourite sports movie or documentary?
I'm really into the Michael Jordan Documentary “The Last Dance” and I enjoy most sports movie especially Remember the Titans and We are Marshall.
What’s the one thing about you most people don’t know about?
That’s a tough one I’m a pretty open book to be honest.
What’s your highest score in senior cricket?
Um 123, I think playing for Wynnum
What has been your best bowling figures in senior cricket?
7 for 19 against Beenleigh
Can you tell us which players in the club we should be looking out for in terms of higher representative honours?
Lexie Muller has been QLD Country best female player the last 2 years and has an exceptional work ethic and probably Carly Fuller very talented allrounder.
Who has been the fastest bowler you’ve played against?
Probably Katherine Fitzpatrick and Charmaine Mason
Who has been the best spinner you’ve played against?
Lou Broad-Foot. When Lou was on she would spin it on glass.
Who has been the best batsman you’ve played against?
Balinda Clark and Karen Rolton
Who has been your funniest team mate?
Julia Price and Leteysha Randall
Who was your childhood hero?
Melinda Gainsford, Lindford Christie and Craig McDermott
Who are the three sports people in the world you’d most like to meet?
Roger Federer, Steffi Graf, Mookie Betts

Who are the two local players you admire most in terms of skills and competitive spirit?

What do you enjoy most about playing cricket?
Young guns coming through and achieving their goals
What has been your most memorable moment in cricket?
Playing a Test match Australia Youth Shooting Stars team v NZ and we needed to win to win the series. It was an epic game
What’s the best win you’ve been involved with?
A legends game in Sri Lanka and I was the only girl. We chased down over 200 in a T20, it was amazing
What are your hobbies?
Love fishing and camping
What’s the best advice you’ve received?
All you can do is your best and if your best wasn’t enough you gave it all.
Are you involved in cricket and if so, in what capacity?
At the moment I work for Northern Territory Cricket so for me it’s getting our young talent achieving their best.
