After a truly breakout year with both the bat and ball, Hayden Kerr has been duly rewarded at the Cricket New South Wales awards.
Named the inaugural Michael Bevan One Day Cup Player of the Year as well as the Sydney Sixers BBL Player of the Tournament, Kerr established himself as one of the most valuable cricketing assets in NSW.

The twenty-five-year-old, who hails from Bowral, topped the charts for the Blues in the 50-over format. Although NSW only played three matches in a COVID-affected season, Kerr was the best performed with the bat, as he recorded 90 runs. Equally impressive with the ball, the left-arm quick managed five wickets; equal most with Australian international, Adam Zampa.
Shining throughout the Big Bash, Kerr was a strong all-round contributor as he helped the Sydney Sixers to a place in the Final. Playing all 17 matches, Kerr finished as the tournament’s second-leading wicket-taker with 25 scalps.
Behind only Australian veteran Peter Siddle in the wicket-tally, Kerr’s miserly economy of 7.5 runs per over was the best of any quick bowler in the tournament’s top-ten wicket-takers.

An impressive tournament with the bat too, Kerr – whose big hitting exploits with the willow are renowned at Bradman Oval – made an impressive 152 runs from just nine innings. His average of 38 the best of the Sixers’ batting line-up, the powerful right-hander was particularly impressive when moved to the top of the order; his innings of 98 no. against Adelaide at the SCG a memorable highlight.

Kerr grew up across the road from Bradman Oval and would spend hours in the nets with his father Phil. As he has continued to pursue a career as a professional cricketer, he has always been so generous with his time; getting back to Bowral and playing matches at Bradman Oval when he can.

We are so proud of Hayden and everything he achieves. We congratulate him on a successful year with NSW and the Sydney Sixers and wish him all the best as he embarks on a maiden Indian Premier League stint with Lucknow Super Giants as a squad bowler.
