Today was a nice day for 2 young Valley District Cricket Club cricketers who have in the past 12 months encountered bad accidents that would make many others throw in the towel. But not Hayden Boyd and Riley Grace. They are all smiles whenever you see them.
As soon as news of the boys’ plights reached Aussie coach Justin Langer a few months ago he was straight into action when on tour mid-year with the national team. Within 24 hours Langer had arranged text videos from himself and players Alex Carey and Jason Behrendorff. The Aussie coach and his 2 players immediately recorded personal messages of support to both wicketkeeper batsman Hayden and left arm quick Riley.

Promising to make sure the lads got to meet a few of the Test team around Ashes time culminated in a meeting this morning at practice where the Aussie fast bowling trio were only too happy to chat to the young blokes and have some snaps taken.
Thanks Justin Langer and your players for doing what good people do. Also thanks to Brian ‘Freddy’ McFadyen for setting up this morning’s meeting at Shaw Park.
So instead of always having negative headlines in the media, how about spruiking stuff like this?
On behalf of the boys many thanks to the Aussie lads for simply being good humans.
