Angus Robson is Eastern Suburbs First Grade cap number 637 and prior to the start of the 2020/21 season he has scored 3,515 runs for the Dolphins. He top scored in 2019/20 with 736 runs in first grade at 49.07.

In February 2020 Angus was nominated in the top 50 contenders for the Waverley/Eastern Suburbs Cricket Club team of 125 years.

Angus also played 61 first class games in the U.K scoring 3,261 runs at 30.19 including 3 centuries (one against India) and 29 half centuries

Right hand batsman and occasional leg spin

What’s been your most memorable moment in cricket so far?

Scoring a century for Leicestershire vs India, and Easts 3rd grade premiership celebrations in 2018/19

Pat Cummins and Tymal Mills

Who is the best spinner you’ve played against?

Saeed Ajmal

Who played the best innings you’ve seen firsthand playing with or against?

Nic Maddinson - century vs Campbelltown Camden in one day quarter final 2017/18 season. Century off hardly any balls, incredible hitting. We were batting 2nd and chasing a big score and he took the game away from them in the first 15 overs.

Who are the two players in NSW Premier Cricket you’ve come to admire most in terms of skills and competitive spirit in the competitions you played?

Nathan Rowe - tireless workhorse who never stops charging in. Great knowledge of the game and a very realistic approach to the game. Will be playing well into his 40’s

Brandon McLean - always up for the fight and plays in the right spirit. Bats and bowls well and a champion bloke as well. Knows more about the Brisbane grade comp than the Sydney one.

Who’s the king of selfies at your club?

Rupert Lilliburne 

Can you recall some banter or an exchange on the cricket field that still makes you laugh today?

I was playing a second grade game when I was a young bloke and was using a bat called an ‘angle drive’, which had a tilted blade.

I marked middle off the umpire and one of the slips said ‘that’s actually leg, not middle, because of your angle drive’

Who’s been the biggest influence on your career so far?

My dad Jim and brother Sam

Where do you find inspiration that gets you through challenging times?

Go for a beer with my girlfriend and my mates or go home for a home cooked dinner with my mum

What do you like to do to relax outside cricket?

Hang out with friends, watch sport and the races

What do you do outside of cricket?

I work at The Scots College and am doing a Master’s degree in PE teaching
