Scott Baldwin made his first grade for Hawkesbury on 12 January 2019 against Manly at the picturesque Manly Oval. It was a great day for Hawkesbury as they won by 8 wickets on the one day game.
On 23 January 2021 Scott scored his maiden first grade century against Parramatta when he scored 124 and hit 9 fours and 7 sixers off 206 balls.

If you can share with our readers how you would describe yourself as a cricketer?
Right hand top/middle order batsmen, if I did get a bowl, it’d be right arm pies.
What’s been your most memorable moment in cricket so far?
Winning the first grade Sydney Thunder T20 conference in the 2019/20 season, which meant I got the opportunity to play in Adelaide against the other States Premier Clubs..
At what age did you make your first grade debut?
I was 23 when I made my first grade debut against Manly-Warringah.

Who is the fastest bowler you’ve played against?
Liam Hatcher bowled absolute gas at Owen Earle in my first season of first grade. I was batting with Peter Forrest and we met in the middle of the pitch and he said “geese that’s sharp”.
Who is the best spinner you’ve played against?
Jarrad Burke is probably the best spinner I’ve faced, He’s accuracy is impeccable and he’s very hard to get away. Also special mention to Anthony Kershler and Usman Qadir who I faced at training a fair bit, those two are quality spinners I’ve faced as well.
Who played the best innings you’ve seen firsthand playing with or against?
The best innings I’ve ever seen was Shane Watson, he smoked 101 not out off 70 odd balls at Owen Earle. I’ve never seen a bloke hit them so clean. I was standing on the boundary and I was watching balls sail over my head and the boundaries are quite big at Owen Earle.

Who are the two players in NSW Premier Cricket you’ve come to admire most in terms of skills and competitive spirit in the competitions you played?
I’ll give you three, Peter Forrest, Nick Larkin and Josh Clarke. I think their numbers speak for themselves.
Who was the best wicket keeper you’ve seen firsthand playing with or against?

Who was the best captain you had the good fortune to play with?
I was fortunate enough to play with Peter Forrest and he’s the best captain I’ve had. He was very good strategically, he knew how to get the best out of his players. I was batting with him once and the ball was swinging away from me, I always stand on leg and middle and he came down to my end and said “stand on off stump so you can get outside the line, you’ll also know where your off stump is so you can comfortably leave outside off”.
It’s those little things that I was never taught that made me a better player.

Who’s the king of selfies at your club?
Ryan Mizzi and Hameed Kherkhah, these two boys love selfies.
Can you recall some banter or an exchange on the cricket field that still makes you laugh today?
I remember playing my 5th first grade game against Parramatta and I got absolutely sprayed.
They were saying “this bloke doesn’t deserve a number, Hawkesbury are giving numbers out to third graders, if anyone wants a number go to Hawkesbury next year because this bloke is useless, it won’t be long before he’s back in second grade lads,” with a few F bombs mixed in as well. I loved it to be fair, I love all the banter.
Who’s been the biggest influence on your career so far?
My dad, he’s been there every step of the way. He’s done a lot for me through my cricketing career.
Everyone at Hawkesbury cricket club as well, it’s been a great journey.
Where do you find inspiration that gets you through challenging times?
My friends and family give me inspiration to get through challenging times. I feel very lucky with the life I’ve lived so far.
Who are the three people in the world you’d love to have a chat to in person?
I’d love to have a beer with Matty Johns, Andrew Johns and Cameron Munster

What do you like to do to relax outside cricket?
I love watching the footy at home with a beer, a bit of Netflix and I love going to the gym at the moment although it doesn’t look like it.
What’s your occupation?
I currently work for the Hills Shire Council as Team Leader Trades maintenance.

Can we ask, what would it mean to you to play for first class cricket?
Geez, I’m lucky to play first grade. It’d be an absolute honour to play first class cricket, it’d mean the world to not only me but my parents as well. Every young cricketer has dreams to play for NSW and Australia, if they ever came true, I’d be speechless.
