We are delighted to announce the New Zealand squad that will compete at the Over-50s Cricket World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa, in March of 2023.
The team will again be led by Adrian Dale and features many familiar names.
There are 7 new caps in the 16 named.
Ian Billcliff is a former First-Class player for Otago, Wellington and Auckland, and also represented Canada in 19 ODIs. He was the leading run-scorer at the Australian National Champs and scored heavily at the IPT as well.
Robbie Frew is another ex-FC player, for Canterbury. He scored a century at the IPT and is averaging 180 in his over-50s career so far.
Ronny Kotkamp from Otago played a lot in England for the likes of the MCC and the Duke of Norfolk's XI and was the man of the match in the IPT final, taking 4/17.
Dave Goldingham has been around the over-50s scene for a few years now. He had a great IPT last week and his height and accuracy will make him a tricky bowler to face.
John Vujnovich is a medium pacer who has represented Croatia and Auckland A. He won the Division 1 Bowler of the Tournament at the recently completed IPT.
Jason Campbell is a fiery all-rounder who bowls accurately and hits a long ball. He played for NZ A at the Australian Champs and this will be his second season of over-50s cricket.
Mike Harrow is a newcomer for Auckland this year. Despite limited opportunities, he bowled with good pace and zip and troubled some of the better batsmen.
Congratulations to all the players selected!
Lots more details will be provided as we build up to the World Cup.
