Rod Grey played cricket in Townsville for 30 years and had a 15 year career in A-Grade. He commenced the Cooper Cricket brand in 2011 out of his home garage. It was after a health scare with his daughter that he and his wife re-assessed life and they decided to follow their passions. Originally from Townsville, he moved his family down to Brisbane for cricket and schooling. With a hands-on background as a signwriter, he is a self taught bat maker based in Brisbane. He still runs a successful signwriting business, Grey and Grey, in tandem with his bat production and clients in this business include the recently re-branded Queensland Country Bank.
He sources his premium willow from a trusted Pakistan supplier and his bats, pads, gloves and bags from a boutique supplier in India. A big part of his business is bat repairs - they repairs all brands of bat and he has found a loyal following throughout Australia. Clients include St Paul's, Gregory Terrace and they have recently customised stumps for Wynnum and Redlands. More recently, he has been selling clefts and handles to fathers and sons and to schools to work on bat-making projects.
By appointment, you can arrange a time to meet Rod and he can show you through his diverse range of cricket bats and equipment. With a dyamic set of suppliers they are able to customise their equipment to your requirements.
A proud supporter of Northern Suburbs Cricket Club which includes big names like Joe Burns and Nathan McSweeney, Cooper Cricket is a rapidly expanding cricket brand which has a devout following throughout Australia.
