Jan 22 2021

NSW Cricket Umpire and Life Member Arthur Watson makes history today as he becomes the first umpire to officiate 800 matches in the Sydney Cricket Association when he takes to the field at Rosedale Oval.

He will be umpiring the Second Grade fixture between Fairfield-Liverpool and UTS North Sydney with his great friend Sathish Kumar at the ground where the umpire’s room is named after him.

Originally hailing from Inverell in the state’s north, Arthur commenced his SCA umpiring career in 1970 and has now stood in 365 First Grade fixtures, 69 in Second Grade, 86 in Third Grade, 142 in Fourth Grade and 116 in Fifth with 21 in Sydney Shires.
