The cancellation of sporting events and competitions across the globe would indicate the administration of NSW Premier Cricket should cancel the competition prior the first round of qualifying finals due to start this weekend.
It seems inevitable the cricket competition will be cancelled and they're better off making this decision now rather than next week or the week after.
Apart from the safety of the players, coaches and everyone associated with the clubs playing the qualifying finals it would make sense the Minor Premiers become the Premiers with such a decision.
Can you imagine the difficulty in digesting an outcome where the Minor Premiers in any grade lose their qualifying final only to see the competition cancelled in the days thereafter?
The highest ranking team left in the semi-final race would then become Premiers and that seems a little unfair.
If it’s inevitable and the Sheffield Shield competition has already been cancelled then NSW Premier Cricket should award the Premiership to the Minor Premiers this week as they’ve proven to be the best team all year.
It won't be a decision that's palatable to all but neither is what's going on elsewhere - toilet paper, pasta, rice..... anyone?
Congratulations to NSW for winning the Sheffield Shield - their 48th title
