"We had a great all-round side with a strong fast bowling attack but we also had a bit of luck as I suppose you need to win a premiership. I recall playing Sandgate and Martin Kent had just come off a double century and had scored 50 off what seemed like 5 overs, the ball racing in all directions over the flint hard Deagon outfield. Partly out of desperation we threw the ball to Paul Schlinker, a "straight-breaker" in the Ray Bright mould who caught and bowled him the first ball after the break. Mind you if he missed it, it would have put a hole in his chest."
