With a one off Test match between Australia and Afghanistan starting 27 November 2021 followed by the 5 Tests Ashes Series between Australia and England Australia’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is set to become St George Cricket Club most capped Test cricketer.
Hazlewood is St George first grade player 404 and to date has played 55 Test matches.
Ray Lindwall made his Test debut for Australia whilst playing with St George and played 61 Tests although his last 23 Tests were after he transferred to Queensland in 1954/55.
Fully fit and of course if selected Josh will join Lindwall with 61 Tests.
One may argue Josh is already St George’s most capped as he has played all his 55 Tests whilst at the Dragons.
Most Test while playing at St George
- Josh Hazlewood – 55 Tests
- Arthur Morris – 46 Tests
- Norm O’Neill – 42 Tests
- Ray Lindwall – 37 Tests
When you consider Morris, O’Neill, Lindwall were all selected in St George Team of the Century along with Bradman, O’Reilly, Booth, O’Keeffe, the boy from Bendemeer is well and truly amongst the greats in the rich history of St George Cricket Club.
