The St George First Grade squad headed to Brisbane over the weekend for some trial games against Queensland’s Northern Suburbs.

On the Saturday wickets were shared with new boy Joey Graham, Engelbrecht, Ortiz and Francis all picking up a couple each as they were set 265 from 50 overs.

With the bat it was tough going. Andrew Walsh made the highest score batting at 10 with 43 off just 25 balls including plundering 4 maximums. The boys made an incredible effort to get to within 12 runs by the close of play, Graham again impressing with the bat with 39.

In Sundays T20 game they had a win over Norths

Batting first, skipper Nick Stapleton got the boys off to a good start by scoring 60 off 41 as the lads finished on 172. New lad Joey Graham impressed with the ball once again by taking 3/30 from his 4 overs and the boys completed a comfortable win.

Promising signs for the upcoming season!
