The McMahon family is well known in cricketing circles especially in Northern NSW.
As brothers Terry, Brian and Michael McMahon grew up in Lismore to become talented cricketers and made their way to Sydney where they all played 1st Grade Cricket.
It was their dad, John who fostered the young McMahon’s passion for the game and he was an exceptional cricketer with a wonderful history in NSW Cricket.
John McMahon received an OAM for services to cricket and a Lifetime Coaching award from Cricket NSW. He’s a Life Member of Lismore District Cricket Association, Far North Coast Cricket Council, North Coast Cricket Zone, NSW Country Cricket and the NSW Cricket Association.
John played grade cricket for Balmain Cricket Club in Sydney and took 210 wickets in 8 season. One moving north John played for South Brisbane District Cricket Club in Brisbane and played 2 first class games for Queensland.
Sadly John and his wife Joan have been deeply affected by the Lismore flood disaster and we’re hoping the wider cricket community can find the generosity to help John and Joan in their time of need
A few words from Michael
My name is Michael McMahon and I am originally from Lismore NSW. My parents John and Joan McMahon have lost their house and lifetime belongings in the catastrophic Lismore floods. They have lost everything and are extremely traumatised.
We have been overwhelmed with heartwarming offers of help from friends, colleagues and acquaintances which we are grateful. However, we respectfully request that your generosity in the form of a financial donation is the absolute critical requirement at this time.
All money raised will be used for housing, relocation costs and critical essential provisions. We thank you for any assistance you are able to provide.
