In the wake of the fines handed down to Latrell Mitchell, Josh Addo-Carr, Tyrone Roberts-Davis and Nathan Cleary, it has emerged that the second-youngest brother of NRL stars Jake and Tom Trbojevic has posted a picture of himself and three friends not observing social distancing.
Luke Trobjevic, who lives at the family home in Mona Vale with Jake, Tom and younger brother Ben, signed with Manly on a training contract, was photographed around a fire pit with mates in the NSW town of Mudgee, according to his Instagram page.
In the wake of the above quartet's fines for similar posts, it has prompted calls of double standards from some.
“So you can’t go out bush and be isolated on country with your Mob, but it’s ok to gather together in the city??” Tweeted film maker, Alec Doomadgee. “@NRL In my best Pauline Hanson voice ‘Please Explain’.”
It should be noted that Luke Trbjojevic is not an NRL player, but rather an electrician who plays amateur rugby union for Newport Breakers.
That a "civilian" would take a weekend away to fraternise with friends would not be considered newsworthy by media outlets.
However, living with three NRL players from the one club and being a potential carrier of COVID-19 at a time the NRL is desperate to restart the competition does bear scrutiny.
