Andy Walton

Andy is a right hand top order bat and right arm medium passed swing bowler.

His international debut playing for Rhodesian schools but later played 1st Grade cricket in England which included 3 first class games for Kent county.

At the age of 38 he moved to Perth where he continued to play 1st grade cricket for Applecross.

Andy is still playing in the open 1st Grade One day competition today and the season of 2020/21 he scored 517 runs at an average of 34.47 and took 25 wickets at an average of 17.12.

Walts, as he’s commonly known, has only recently been introduced to 50s cricket as he was unaware there was a 50s competition.

His introduction was the over 50s World Cup in 2020 when he played for the Zimbabwean team.

Ironically the first game was against Australia and his 40 runs with the bat and 2 wickets for 26 put him in good stead for Aussie selection. His performance placed him into the 50s world rankings.

A little unknown fact about Walts is he’s played for three different countries at three different sports Cricket, indoor Cricket and hockey.

Only the indoor community will know Andy’s indoor accomplishments with 89 test for England and 31 test for Australia making him the most capped player in the world.

To relax you will find Andy on the golf course where he plays off a 7 handicap.
