Conor McInerney is Woodville District Cricket Club first grade captain and first grade player number 310 for the club
He made his first grade debut in 2012/13 and to daye has scored just over 6,800 first grade runs including 13 centuries.
Conor has played 13 first class games for South Australia.

If you can share with our readers how you would describe yourself as a cricketer?
Opening batsman who bowls some occasional left arm orthodox
Tell us about your journey, what clubs have you played at and where are you playing now?
I started playing cricket at St Michael’s College in primary school before having an under 13 season at Port District Football/Cricket Club when I didn’t make the Woodville Ray Sutton team.
I made it the next season and have been at Woodville ever since. Have played every grade from Ray Sutton Shield (Under 13) to A Grade.
What’s been your most memorable moment in cricket so far?
Being told I was going to make my debut for South Australia and then actually being presented my cap and debuting.

Who’s your favourite all-time cricketer?
Shaun Marsh. Have always loved how he bats and goes about his game. The media and public always treated him terribly even though he was a gun, and still is!!

Mitchell Swepson and Steve O’Keefe - can’t split them
Who played the best innings you’ve seen firsthand playing with or against?
Jake Weatherald against Queensland in a one day game at North Sydney Oval. I opened the batting with him and it was the cleanest hitting I’ve ever seen.

Who are the two players in South Australia Premier Cricket you’ve come to admire most in terms of skills and competitive spirit in the competitions you played?
Mark Cosgrove and Chadd Sayers
Who was the best wicket keeper you’ve seen firsthand playing with or against?
Tim Cameron when I first started playing A Grade at Woodville
Who was the best captain you had the good fortune to play with?
Travis Head. Always leading by example and makes decisions based on game situations rather than emotions.

Can you recall some banter or an exchange on the cricket field that still makes you laugh today?
Every time someone call me four eyes I laugh. You think they’d thinking of something less obvious to say?
Who’s been the biggest influence on your career so far?
My Dad and my first coach at the SACA Shane McDermott.
Where do you find inspiration that gets you through challenging times?
The fact that I’ve been through challenging times before by figuring things out myself, so I know I can do it again.

What do you like to do to relax outside cricket?
Spend time with my girlfriend, walk my dog, hang out with my mates and not take life too seriously.
Who has the best nickname you’ve come across in cricket, what’s the nickname and do you know the story behind it?
Brad Davis - Tugga. I’m taking credit for the nickname because I was there when the incident occurred and I was the first to call him it can’t go into the story too much because it’s R rated but let’s just say alcohol was involved.
Are you working or going to University?
Have finished studying a Bachelor of Health, Sport and Activity but would love to get into coaching eventually. Currently in Darwin playing cricket in their dry season.

Heroes get remembered, legends never die.
Can we ask, you’ve played 14 first class games for South Australia, what does it mean to you to play for the State?
Every time I got to wear the SACA cap it made me proud to be South Australian and honoured to be one of the few players who have been able to wear it. Will never forget the feeling.
